Cannot Play Audio Files in InQuiry or InCommand


This article describes a possible cause for dictations not playing from InQuiry or InCommand, and how to fix it.

If, when trying to play a dictation, Windows Media Player opens, and then freezes, the cause may be an Internet Explorer setting.

To fix this, go to the Tools -> Internet Options menu item to open the Internet Options Window, and then click on the Connections tab. You should see a window that looks something like this:

Click on the "LAN settings" button to bring up the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window that looks like this:

The "Automatically Detect Settings" checkbox needs to be checked. If it is not checked, then Windows Medial Player will not work.
