How To Determine If Text Was Pasted From MS Word

If Word has been  used to copy/paste report text into InScribe, it is possible that the report will contain additiional hidden codes that will prevent it from printing or exporting correctly. This is due to the manner in which the document is created and many times is because the Normal Word Document Template (.docx) contains formatting that conflicts with the style and formatting within the InScribe document template.

This Article will explain how to determine if text was pasted from Microsoft Word into the Inscribe or Inquiry editor.

For InScribe:

Step 1) In Inscribe, left click anywhere in the editor window. On the keyboard press Alt-Shift-H to view the source.

Step 2) In the window that just opened, Right Click and do a select all followed by Ctrl+C to copy the selected text to your clipboard.

Step 3) Click Start > All Programs > Accessories  > Locate and Open Notepad.

Step 4) Press Ctrl+V to paste this source text to Notepad.

Step 4) Within Notepad, Press Ctrl+F on the keyboard to open the FIND window. Paste the following text, in to the FIND window and search through the file for occurrences of

class="W

If a box pops up that says "Text not found" then this text was likely NOT copied from Word.

If formatting has been copied from Word, you may find something similar to this:

<body><div class="WordSection1"><p class="P.MsoNormal">Changes in Word</p></div></body>

Please note:  These are only a problem when these are found within the <body> </body> tags.

Conversely, if you do a search for occurrences of :

class="E

you should find  occurrences of class="EmdatTempl"

For InQuiry: Step 1) Open the document you wish to check. Click the "EDIT" button in the toolbar. If you don't have an edit button, you would either need to find someone who can edit, or contact the eScription One Help Desk at 800-858-0080 for assistance.
