SYMPTOMS:

Clicking on the Word icon in InQuiry pops up a box stating “Word support requires you install an additional Runtime Component which will allow eScription One Editor to communicate directly with your local instance of Microsoft Word. You will need to restart Internet Explorer after installing for these changes to take effect.” Clicking install makes the message go away. Logging out and back in you get the same message.

CAUSE:

This is caused by an active X setting in Internet Explorer. Go to Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites. Click on Custom Level and scroll down to setting “ Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe for scripting”. Set to enable or prompt.

Click OK, then Yes to the pop up asking if you want to save the changes, then OK to close the Internet Options box. This may or may not require a restart of Internet Explorer.

ACTION:

After these changes have been made, editing documents in word should now work properly.

Problems editing documents in word from within eScription One applications can be traced to an Active X setting for  “ Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe for scripting”.
