The purpose of locking a transcription file is to prevent accidental modification or completion.
It is possible for a transcriptionist to inadvertently lock a transcription by pressing the wrong button or hot key combination. If this happens, the transcriptionist will not be able to complete or upload the transcription file.
If a transcription is locked, it will have a "Lock" icon halfway down on the far right of the screen.
There are two main ways to unlock a transcription.
- Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + K
- From the Menu option select Transcription, locate the Padlock Icon, if highlighted it means it is locked.
After unlocking the transcription, it can be completed and uploaded as normal. The padlock Icon will no longer be highlighted and the lock icon at the bottom right-hand corner will no longer be visible.
